Suresh Gopi's upcoming film Janaki V vs State of Kerala is all set to release worldwide on July 17. The courtroom drama had faced hurdles with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), mainly over its title and content.
The title, which includes the name Janaki — also linked to the Hindu goddess Sita — sparked controversy. Initially, the CBFC demanded a title change and nearly 96 cuts. However, the filmmakers refused to comply and took legal action.
After legal intervention, the CBFC reviewed its decision and cleared the film with only two minor cuts. The movie has now received a U/A certificate.
The film tells the story of Janaki, a woman fighting for justice after a traumatic experience. Suresh Gopi plays the lead role of a determined lawyer who takes up her case. The legal thriller explores the emotional and judicial journey within Kerala’s legal system.
To confirm the release, the team shared a poster on social media with the message: Behind every delay… is a truth worth fighting for. Fans flooded the post with support, expressing excitement for the film and Gopi’s return to courtroom roles after his hit Garudan.
With the censorship issue resolved, the film’s release is now highly anticipated. Audiences are eager to see how the powerful story unfolds on screen.
