The highly anticipated war drama Border 2 has entered its third shooting schedule at the National Defence Academy in Pune, bringing together an ensemble cast led by Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty. Sunny Deol took to Instagram to share a behind-the-scenes photo with the cast, producers Nidhi Dutta and Bhushan Kumar, and director Anurag Singh.
Captioning the post, Sunny wrote: “When all ‘Forces’ come together! #BORDER2. Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty join Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan as the battalion kicks off the 3rd schedule at Pune’s National Defence Academy.” He added that the film is moving full throttle and is set to hit theatres on January 23, 2026.
Directed by Anurag Singh and backed by producers Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J.P. Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, Border 2 is presented by Gulshan Kumar’s T-Series in association with J.P. Films. The film is a sequel to the 1997 hit Border and is reportedly inspired by the Kargil War of 1999, when Indian forces repelled Pakistani infiltrators along the Line of Control in the Kargil district.
Recently, Sunny Deol and the crew met with Uttarakhand film officials at the Dehradun war set in Halduwala. The meeting, attended by Council CEO Bansidhar Tiwari and Joint CEO Dr. Nitin Upadhyay, focused on the state’s support for filmmaking and Uttarakhand’s potential as a shooting destination under its progressive film policy. Border 2 promises to be a patriotic, large-scale cinematic spectacle.
