Actor Barry Keoghan, best known for Saltburn, has revealed his battle with drug addiction in a recent interview with Hollywood Authentic. For the first time publicly, he spoke about how the addiction affected his life—even after the birth of his son in 2022.
Keoghan shared that addiction has long haunted his life. His mother died from drug abuse during his childhood, and despite fatherhood, he struggled to stop. “I’m not in denial anymore,” he said. “I understand that I do have an addiction, and I am an addict.”
He emphasized how acceptance became a turning point. “You finally can move on and learn to work with it,” he explained. Keoghan now finds strength in responsibility, sobriety, and parenthood. “I’m present. I’m content. I’m a father,” he said. “The haze is sharper now, and colorful.”
The actor also described how addiction left physical marks on him. “I’ve got scars here to literally prove it,” he revealed, referencing injuries from drug use.
Speaking out was inspired by his fans. “I’m very proud to carry that,” Keoghan said. He hopes his honesty helps others, especially in the entertainment industry, to understand the hidden burdens actors may face.
