Amara Premi Arun, is a naively charming, down-to-earth love story that’s as much about a place as it is about people. Set entirely in Ballari and spoken fully in its distinct dialect, the film is a nostalgic ode to the ancient place, wrapped in the simplicity of small-town romance.

At the center of the story is Arun (played with quiet strength by Harisharva), a medical rep who's still holding onto memories of a childhood sweetheart, Kavya. Harisharva brings a gentle, grounded presence to the screen; his performance doesn’t shout, but it lingers. The easy manner in which he carries the character’s emotional baggage that makes him easily relatable.

But what really sets Amara Premi Arun apart, though, is its deep connection to the location. From the way characters speak to the locations depicted on screen, the film feels like it truly belongs to the place it’s set in. It’s the first Kannada film to be entirely in the Ballari dialect, and that bold creative choice gives it a voice that’s both fresh and interesting.

Dharmanna Kadur, as the quirky and lovable Ballari Seena, brings a lot of heart and humor to the film. He feels less like a character and more like someone you’ve actually met. His comedic timing and grounded performance help keep the story feeling alive and real.

Director Praveen Kumar G clearly pours his personal experience and love for his hometown into every frame. His mix of Kannada and English in the dialogue makes the film accessible without losing its regional flavor.

On the technical front, the ‘APA’ makes the most of its modest budget. Kiran Ravindranath’s music beautifully complements the tone, soft, nostalgic, and full of feeling. Cinematographer Praveen S captures the town with care and affection, while editor Manu Shedgar keeps the pacing smooth and reflective.

At its core, Amara Premi Arun is a simple love story, but one told with so much heart, sincerity, and cultural richness that it ends up leaving a mark.
