Chikkaballapur: In a shocking incident that has rattled the residents of Chikkaballapur, a 29-year-old man was found brutally murdered, with police suspecting an old rivalry possibly triggered by an IPL celebration clash as the cause.
The deceased, identified as Srikanth, a resident of Ambedkar Colony and a welder by profession, was discovered dead early Tuesday morning in the basement of a commercial building on BB Road. Blood stains found on a road behind the building indicate that he may have been attacked elsewhere and his body later dumped at the scene.
Srikanth had not returned home the previous night, prompting concern among his family. His mother, Meenakshi, in a heart-wrenching statement, said, “He was the only breadwinner. He has two small children and a wife. I went looking for him at 4 AM, only to learn of his death. Our family is shattered.”
Chikkaballapur Superintendent of Police Kushal Chouksey visited the spot and is personally overseeing the investigation. “The victim appears to have been bludgeoned to death using a stone found next to the body. A case of murder has been registered. CCTV footage from nearby buildings is being examined, and we are confident of identifying the culprits soon,” he said.
The incident is suspected to be linked to a confrontation that occurred during recent IPL celebrations, though investigators are also probing other angles, including personal enmity.
The murder has left the local community in fear and mourning, with residents demanding swift justice. Srikanth’s body has been sent for postmortem, and police have intensified their search for the assailants.
Further updates are awaited as the investigation progresses.
