In a span of just one day, multiple road accidents involving government buses were reported in city. Two major incidents in the state capital alone have resulted in one death and several serious injuries.
Man dies after BMTC electric bus hits two-wheeler
A tragic accident occurrned ear the Banaswadi flyover in Bengaluru, where a BMTC electric bus collided with a two-wheeler, killing the rider on the spot. The deceased has been identified as 40-year-old Mohammad Jamshir. His wife, Ayesha, and their two children — Alija and Afia — sustained injuries.
Ayesha suffered injuries to her right arm and leg. Their one-and-a-half-year-old daughter Afia sustained a skull fracture, while four-year-old Alija suffered serious injuries to her arms and legs. All three are being treated at Ambedkar Medical College Hospital.
The electric bus involved in the crash (KA51 AJ 8655) belongs to BMTC’s Hennur Depot-10.
Another BMTC bus crashes into metro pillar; one dead
In a separate incident, a BMTC bus rammed into a metro pillar near Kengeri Mysore Road on June 6. One passenger, identified as Jayaram (57) from Bidadi, succumbed to injuries during treatment.
The accident occurred around 8:30 PM while the bus was en route from KR Market to Bidadi. Initial reports indicate that the steering linkage failed, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle then collided with a metro pillar, injuring 12 people including the driver and conductor.
The injured were rushed to a private hospital, and a case has been registered at Kengeri Traffic Police Station.
