The district administration has made full preparations for the inauguration of the newly constructed Kannada Bhavan on May 27, followed by the two-day District Kannada Literary Conference on May 27 and 28. District Commissioner P.N. Ravindra chaired the preparatory meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office to ensure the events are conducted with proper protocol and enthusiasm.
The Kannada Bhavan, built at a cost of Rs 17.83 crore by the Karnataka Housing Board, faced funding challenges during construction, but thanks to additional grants secured by the District Minister, the project is now ready for inauguration this month. The inauguration will be attended by district dignitaries, senior officials, representatives of Kannada organizations, government and non-government institutions, students, and the general public.
The program will begin at 8:30 AM with the hoisting of the national flag, state flag, and Kannada Sahitya Parishat flag outside the Kannada Bhavan. The flag hoisting will be conducted by Minister Dr. M.C. Sudhakar, MLA P.I. Pradeep Eshwar, and the Parishat president, respectively. At 9:15 AM, a grand cultural procession featuring Kannada slogans and art troupes will proceed from Ambedkar Bhavan through major city roads to Kannada Bhavan via Shidlaghatta Circle.
All city cinemas have been directed to screen Kannada films, and government buildings will be decorated with lights. The health department will provide ambulance facilities, and Kannada flags will be displayed on shops. Authorities are tasked with cleanliness, installation of banners, and ensuring water and other basic amenities for participants.
