Namma Metro’s Yellow line to be partially launched in June

The long-anticipated Yellow Line of Bengaluru’s Namma Metro is expected to begin partial operations in June, according to officials from Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL). Although the 19.15 km corridor between R.V. Road and Bommasandra has been ready for some time, the launch has been delayed due to the late arrival of new driverless trains.

Initially, the metro will run limited services with only three trains operating at intervals of 30 minutes. The trains will stop only at major stations, including R.V. Road, Bommasandra, Jayadeva Hospital, Central Silk Board, and a few others. Other stations along the route will open gradually over time. Commuters have expressed disappointment with the partial launch. Ramesh Hegde, a software engineer, shared that he had hoped to use the BTM Layout station near his home, which will remain closed initially. Sneha M. from Kodichikanahalli mentioned the lack of good bus connections, forcing her to rely on personal transport or autos.

BMRCL assures the phased opening will ease congestion once fully operational, with more trains and stations coming online soon. The Yellow Line is expected to enhance connectivity across key residential and commercial hubs, providing relief to Bengaluru’s growing commuter demand. As the city awaits the full launch, residents are hopeful that the metro will soon offer a faster, more convenient public transport option.
