Law Minister HK Patil has explicitly stated that there is no connection between the Chinnaswamy stampede incident, the event that took place at the same venue, and the government.

Speaking at Vidhanasoudha, he said, “There is no link between the Chinnaswamy stampede case and the government. The event held at Chinnaswamy Stadium is not related to the government either. The Chief Minister's statement is correct. It is not appropriate to associate that event with the government.”

Patil added, “We are considering this case very seriously. A report will be submitted to the high command. The investigation will be completed as soon as possible. Regarding the letter written by the Deputy Commissioner of Police at Vidhanasoudha, I will not respond now; the investigation is ongoing, and it is not appropriate to speak during this phase. The investigation report will be submitted to the court tomorrow.”

He further stated, “Immediately after the incident, the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister visited the hospital and the scene. The government responded swiftly. We have also ordered an inquiry in the Cabinet. The government has increased the compensation, and therefore, it has no role in the incident,” he clarified.

He assured that the investigation and legal proceedings will continue as per protocol.

ANCVHOR: Vikas Kumar has challenged his suspension

Bengaluru

Following the tragic stampede outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore that resulted in the deaths of 11 RCB fans, the state government had suspended five officers, including Vikas Kumar, the Additional Commissioner of Police (West Division), citing negligence of duty.

Vikas Kumar has challenged the suspension by approaching the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), filing an application challenging the government's order.

On the night of June 5, five officers—B. Dayanand, the Police Commissioner of Bangalore City; H.T. Shekhar, the Deputy Commissioner of Central Division; Vikas Kumar, Additional Police Commissioner of West Division; H.T. Shekhar (again listed, possibly a different role or typo), Sub-Inspector Balakrishna, and Inspector Gireesh A.K. of Cubbon Park—were suspended in connection with the stampede incident.

The Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, Home Minister Parameshwar, and RCB management faced a complaint filed at Cubbon Park Police Station by senior monks from marginalized Mutt communities. The complaint alleges negligence on their part led to the deaths of 11 RCB fans. The complainants have demanded action against these officials.

The families of the deceased have demanded increased compensation announced earlier.- 65 RCB fans who were injured in the stampede are receiving treatment.- The CID has launched an investigation, visiting the stadium and collecting information.- A report on the Bangalore stampede tragedy has been directed to the Karnataka Human Rights Commission.

- Meanwhile, a case has been filed against RCB and KSCA, and some spiritual leaders have appealed for action against the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister.

In connection with the stampede case, RCB COO Rajesh Mennen, Nikhil Sossale, Sunil Mathew, Kiran Kumar, and Shant Mavinakere have filed a RTI petition in the High Court seeking to quash the case registered against them. The petition alleges that the government is responsible for the incident, citing the role of the government in organizing the event, and referencing statements made by the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister as grounds for the petition.
