The 218th edition of the Independence Day Flower Show at Lalbagh Botanical Garden will take place from August 7 to 18, showcasing floral grandeur themed around the Kittur Kingdom. This year’s highlight will be a magnificent tribute to Rani Chennamma of Kittur and her valiant general, Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna.

The iconic Glass House will host the main attraction — a floral replica of the Kittur Fort, artistically crafted using vibrant roses and chrysanthemums. Surrounding installations will include a life-sized Chennamma on horseback, a standing statue of Rayanna, and a depiction of Chennamma’s memorial. A part of the fort will be presented as a vertical garden, located near Lavani dancer models. A dramatic floral portrayal of Rayanna’s execution by the British will also be on display. To educate and engage visitors, 60 information boards will narrate the historical saga of Kittur, complemented by eight outdoor LED screens displaying rare photographs, documentaries, and short films on the freedom fighters.

Over 100 flower varieties will be featured, including dahlias from Ooty, orchids, bromeliads, and canna lilies. On August 9, a free Ikebana workshop will be offered for women and children.

Entry Fees:

Adults: ₹80 (weekdays), ₹100 (weekends)

Students above 12 years: ₹30

Uniformed school students: Free on working days

Last year’s show attracted over 9 lakh visitors and earned ₹3.44 crore. This year, authorities expect a record 10–11 lakh attendees. The cost for this year’s setup remains undisclosed.
