A new and alarming form of drug trafficking has surfaced in Bengaluru, with a gang selling cannabis-laced jelly chocolates. According to the police, the gang was targeting medical and engineering students with this discreet and potent variant of ganja.

Acting on a tip-off, the Byatarayanapura police arrested two accused — Mohammad Zahid and Ismail Adnan — while another suspect remains on the run. Investigators recovered 1,440 grams of cannabis worth approximately ₹3 lakh during the operation led by Inspector K. Jeevan.

During the search, it was found that the gang was extracting cannabis oil and mixing it into jelly-based chocolates. “The jelly melts in the mouth and produces a strong high soon after ingestion. It's more potent than traditional cannabis leaves or hash oil,” said officials involved in the investigation.

Each pack of this jelly ganja is reportedly sold for as much as ₹6,000. Its discreet form means it can easily be carried in pockets without arousing suspicion, making it difficult even for the police to distinguish between users and traffickers.

The accused were residing in Vishwanath Nagenahalli near Hebbal and are said to have links with a contact from Mangaluru. Police are now trying to locate the location where these cannabis jellies were being manufactured.

In a separate case, a foreign national identified as Daniel, involved in a major drug operation, was recently arrested from the Soladevanahalli area on Bengaluru’s outskirts. He was caught with 2.5 kg of MDMA crystals, valued at nearly ₹4 crore. Daniel, a Nigerian national, was operating under a business visa, allegedly smuggling drugs into India from his home country and distributing them to local dealers. He also used a second-hand motorbike to facilitate deliveries.
