The Hebbal Flyover was closed yesterday for five days, for three hours each night, due to ongoing construction work to install an additional ramp. This work involves placing seven steel girders, each 33.5 meters long, across the railway tracks near the flyover.
The closure took place daily from midnight to 3 a.m., starting from yesterday until May 21. During this time, traffic from Esteem Mall towards Mekhri Circle was halted. Commuters heading from the airport to Mekhri Circle were advised to use alternative routes to avoid delays. Officials recommended motorists take the service road at Esteem Mall, then at Hebbal Circle, turn right onto Outer Ring Road towards Tumkur Road. From Kuvempu Circle, drivers were instructed to turn left, proceed via New BEL Road, and continue until reaching Mekhri Circle.
The Bangalore traffic department urged drivers to plan their travel accordingly and use these suggested routes to reduce congestion and inconvenience. The construction work is part of a larger infrastructure upgrade aimed at easing traffic flow in this busy part of the city. Motorists and residents in the area expressed patience and cooperation during the temporary disruption. Authorities assured that the project would improve long-term connectivity once completed.
The authorities have also increased police presence during the closure hours to manage traffic and ensure safety. Local businesses near the construction site have been informed in advance to minimize disruption. Commuters are encouraged to stay updated on any changes through official traffic alerts and public announcements.
