The Karnataka Lokayukta has registered an FIR against two police sub-inspectors (PSIs) — Bhairappa from Subramanyapura Police Station and Murali Mohan from Kengeri Police Station — for allegedly demanding a ₹10 lakh bribe in connection with a real estate dispute.
According to Lokayukta officials, the complaint was filed by Shivakumar, a resident of Prashanth Nagar and a real estate businessman for the past ten years. He alleged that the PSIs sought the bribe to settle a land-related dispute involving his relative Puttaswamy.
The issue arose after the boundary wall around Puttaswamy’s plot was demolished by a few individuals who claimed ownership of the land. A complaint was subsequently filed against Shivakumar at Subramanyapura Police Station, accusing him of selling the property fraudulently. Later, Puttaswamy decided to withdraw the complaint, stating it was due to a misunderstanding.
In his complaint, Shivakumar stated that PSI Bhairappa directed him to contact PSI Murali Mohan for help in reclaiming the disputed land. A meeting was arranged at a hotel near Kengeri, where Mohan allegedly demanded ₹10 lakh, insisting that ₹5 lakh be paid as an advance. Based on these allegations, the Lokayukta has registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act and launched an investigation into the matter. Both officers are currently under scrutiny, and further legal action will follow based on the outcome of the ongoing inquiry.
