A coordination meeting on the ‘Saturation of Financial Inclusion’ campaign was convened on Thursday at the Press Information Bureau (PIB) office in Bengaluru. The session was chaired by Shri S. G. Raveendra, Additional Director General, PIB, Bengaluru. Representatives from the State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) Karnataka and media units under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, also participated.
The meeting focused on accelerating efforts to achieve 100% financial inclusion across Karnataka, especially in underbanked rural and semi-urban regions. Discussions centered around strengthening collaboration between banking institutions, government agencies, and media outlets to raise awareness about key financial schemes and services available under the campaign.
Shri Raveendra emphasized the critical role of public outreach in ensuring that citizens are informed about their rights and opportunities under government-led financial initiatives. He urged media units to create targeted campaigns to spread awareness on Jan Dhan accounts, digital banking, insurance schemes, credit facilities, and financial literacy programs.
The SLBC representative shared insights on ongoing progress, regional challenges, and proposed solutions to bridge gaps in coverage. A roadmap was discussed to streamline communications and conduct regular assessments of outreach effectiveness. The campaign aims to bring every eligible citizen into the formal banking system, thereby empowering them through access to credit, savings, and financial security. The meeting concluded with a commitment to continue coordinated efforts in making financial inclusion a reality for all sections of society.
