In a major drug bust, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 4 kilograms of high-purity cocaine valued at ₹40 crore at Kempegowda International Airport. The seizure was made from a passenger arriving from Doha, who attempted to smuggle the contraband disguised inside two comic magazines.

During routine baggage checks, DRI officials noticed suspiciously sealed covers on superhero-themed magazines. Upon closer examination, a white powdery substance concealed within the covers raised suspicions. The powder was sent for laboratory testing and was confirmed to be cocaine. Following the confirmation, officials confiscated the entire stash, amounting to 4 kg, and arrested the passenger under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The accused was produced before a magistrate and has been remanded to judicial custody pending further investigation.

This seizure highlights the increasingly sophisticated tactics used by drug traffickers to smuggle narcotics into India. Hiding drugs inside everyday items like books and magazines is becoming a common strategy among international smuggling rings.

Authorities believe the cocaine was intended for distribution in Bengaluru and other major cities. The DRI is now investigating the larger network behind the smuggling attempt, including possible links to international cartels. Officials have reiterated their commitment to intensifying airport surveillance and taking stringent action against drug trafficking. The seizure is being considered one of the largest recent cocaine hauls in the state and a significant success in the fight against narcotics.
