The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has issued a second show cause notice to its Vijayapura MLA, Basangouda Patil Yatnal, following his repeated criticism of the party’s state leadership. The central disciplinary committee's notice came after Yatnal continued to target prominent leaders like Karnataka BJP president BY Vijayendra and former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa.

The committee, acting on orders from the party high command, has given Yatnal 72 hours to explain his actions. Despite previous warnings to refrain from making critical remarks, Yatnal has persisted in questioning the leadership. On Sunday, he publicly wondered why he wasn’t considered for higher party roles like Chief Minister or president, stating that he hadn't engaged in any corrupt or anti-party activities. He also alleged that certain leaders sabotaged party candidates, referring to losses in Davangere and Bidar, as well as BJP leader V Somanna's defeat.

Yatnal has previously criticized Yediyurappa for his ties to his son, Vijayendra, and for his leadership style. In a prior statement, Yatnal called for Yediyurappa’s removal, claiming it was necessary for the future of the BJP in Karnataka. He further expressed dissatisfaction with the Yediyurappa family’s influence in state politics, alleging that many leaders kept quiet out of party loyalty.
