Renowned director Nandakishore is facing accusations of defrauding upcoming actor Shabarish Shetty of ₹22 lakh, with actor Sudeep's name also being mentioned in the dispute.
Young actor Shabarish Shetty claims that Nandakishore borrowed ₹22 lakh from him nine years ago and has since failed to return the money, engaging in fraudulent behavior.
Shabarish Shetty states that after taking the money nine years ago, Nandakishore initially offered him roles in films when asked for repayment. However, no such opportunities materialized. Shetty further alleges that when he attempted to bring this matter to the attention of actor Sudeep, Nandakishore would intervene and prevent him from doing so.
"I had dreamt of playing in the Celebrity Cricket League (CCL)," Shetty said. "I played two seasons in the Kannada Chalanachitra Cup (KCC) tournament. Whenever I asked for my money back, he would threaten to remove me from KCC. I would keep quiet because of my desire to play cricket with Sudeep sir."
Shetty revealed that his film "Ramadootha" has now completed shooting, but he lacks the funds for its release. "When I asked him to return my money, he told me to 'do whatever you want'," Shetty lamented. "I don't know how small artists like us are supposed to live. If he doesn't return my money, I will take legal action against Nandakishore and file a complaint with the Film Chamber."
When contacted regarding Shabarish Shetty's allegations, Nandakishore stated, "Currently, I cannot say anything about this. I am in Mumbai for work-related matters." He further added, "Shabarish Shetty is making baseless accusations and dragging other people's names into it. I will respond to the allegations against me legally. I will consult my lawyers and then issue a statement. I will also file a complaint against him."
