The Union Minister of Civil Aviation stated that the use of drones in agriculture goes far beyond the application of pesticides and has enormous potential for organic and ecological farming, On Tuesday.
The drone industry in India has increased six to eight times during the past 1.5 years. The PLI scheme for the drone industry includes an incentive worth around Rs 120 crore for a sector that in 2021 only accounted for Rs 60 crore, he continued. The minister added that the PLI plan had produced extremely positive outcomes because a lot of businesses had signed up and the industry had increased in size by six to eight times during the previous 18 months.
Food security and nutrition, a sustainable and climate-smart approach to agriculture, an inclusive agricultural value chain and food supply system, and the digitization of agriculture transformation were the four main priority themes that were discussed. Chandigarh, Varanasi, and Hyderabad are expected to host the G20 Agriculture Working Group's upcoming meetings.
