Sri Lankan cricketer Muttaiah Muralitharan will set up an industry to manufacture beverage cans in the city. If everything goes according to the plan, the preliminary works on the project should start in the next two to three months.

Ceylon Beverage Can Pvt Ltd, promoted by Muralitharan, has obtained clearance from the State Government to set up Aluminium Cans and Beverages Filling Industry at the  Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG)  cluster set up by the BJP government in October 2022.
The company had sent a proposal to the government of Karnataka seeking clearance for setting up the Industry at FMCG cluster in Mummigatti here.

On March 7, 2023, the State-Level Single Window Clearance Committee, after studying the recommendations of SLLAC, had approved the proposal.
After retiring from international cricket, Muralitharan is engaged in manufacturing industry. The company is manufacturing eight different sizes of slim, sleek and standard cans. There is a huge demand for these cans at international market.
Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB), based on the approval from the government, has allotted 16.7 acres of land at plot no 157; 2.7 acres on plot No. 156; and 6.2 acres on plot No. 158.
