Members of Akka Foundation, Basava Art, Technical and Recycling Museum and Shilpa Infotech celebrated Quit India day.
They posted letters to the Government, Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, the Deputy Commissioner, and some food packing companies requesting them to ban plastic wrappers for food items. They raised ‘Quit Plastic Wrappers’ slogans.
Akka Foundation President Veerappa Arakeri said many freedom fighters from Hubballi had joined the Quit India Movement. Now we should quit the usage of harmful plastic, he added.
Solar energy expert Mahesh Shivashimpiger, North Karnataka women’s foundation officer bearer Ashwini Kubasad, Vamliki Samaj Veera Madakari President Annappa Navalur, Khandoba Doni and others participated.
