Cooperative departments should work in such a way as to increase economic activities in rural areas. Â Minister of Cooperation KN Rajanna said that more opportunities should be given to the youth in the associations.
He was presiding over the progress review meeting of District Cooperative departments organised at Zilla Panchayat hall.
In 1975, Primary Agricultural Cooperatives were formed in rural areas by amalgamating various types of cooperatives. Its purpose is to reach all the farmers with credit facilities.
      Youth should be appointed as promoters in cooperative societies. And all the eligible farmers, including small and medium, should get credit facilities. He said that to increase the production of milk, necessary measures should be taken, including encouraging cow rearing, fodder crops on small land, grass and other crops.
DCC Bank Recovery Officer Mahadevappa said that there are total 1,313 cooperative societies in the district and 915 societies are in profit. Â
The Minister should respond and cancel the registration of non-performing associations as per rules. Â All society liquidators shall take charge and maintain an inventory of the assets and liabilities of the society. Society property should be preserved. In cases of misappropriation of money, the property of the concerned should be attached, EC and the same should be brought into the account and action should be taken. He instructed the officers to work fairly in matters of public money.
DCC should take steps to increase bank deposits. Audit department should audit all cooperative societies. Â He said that all the cooperative societies should complete the pending works on time.
 Deputy Commissioner Dr R Selvamani, ZP CEO Snehal Sudhakar Lokhande, DCC Bank officials, officers and staff of cooperative departments were present in the meeting.
