The Health Department of the state has extended an invitation to Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar to become the ambassador for spreading awareness about organ donation. Recognizing the Dodmane family as an inspiration for organ donation, the Health Minister, Dinesh Gundu Rao, has requested Ashwini Puneet Rajkumar to be the chief guest at the upcoming Organ Donation Day celebration on August 3, organized by the department. During the event, the Health Department will honor 150 families from the state who have selflessly donated organs, highlighting their noble contribution to saving lives through organ donation. Puneeth Rajkumar, the renowned actor, has been an exemplary figure in inspiring thousands of people through his act of donating his eyes. In recognition of his compassionate gesture, the minister has extended an invitation to his wife, Ashwini, to be an ambassador for promoting organ donation awareness. The importance of organ donation cannot be understated, as a single donor has the potential to help up to eight people even after their passing through organ donation and up to 50 people through tissue donation. To address the shortage of human organs, the state government has launched various initiatives, including the establishment of human organ procurement centers in government medical colleges, including the prestigious Nimhans. Under the free organ transplant scheme, 73 patients have already benefitted, emphasizing the positive impact of such programs on the lives of those in need of organ transplants. The Health Department hopes that by spreading awareness and encouraging more individuals to participate in organ donation, they can significantly improve the lives of those awaiting life-saving transplants.
