Actor Sarath Babu, known for his works predominantly in Tamil and Telugu cinema has passed away. After the sudden demise of Kollywood director-turned-actor and producer Manobala earlier today, now actor Sarath Babu, known for his roles in Rajinikanth-starrer Annamalai and Muthu in Tamil has passed away.
The popular actor was admitted in hospital earlier this month and was undergoing treatment. Earlier on May 3, reports about his demise had circulated on social media, while he was being treated at the hospital. When both fans and celebrities started sharing their condolences, his family had rubbished rumours of his death and said that he is recovering. While initially his health was stable and was doing fine, the talented actor passed away today.
Earlier last month, Sarath Babu had been admitted to a hospital in Hyderabad and his condition was said to be critical. The 71-year-old was on ventilator in the hospital and was undergoing treatment for multi-organ damage. It is to be noted that this was second time he had admitted in a hospital after being admitted and treated at a hospital in Chennai earlier in March this year.
The veteran actor entered the film industry in 1973 through a Telugu film and later became popular through the Tamil film Nizhal Nijamagiradhu also starring Kamal Haasan and directed by K Balachander. He was last seen in Tamil earlier this year in Vasantha Mullai starring Bobby Simhaa.
Sarath Babu was born in Amadalavalasa, Andhra Pradesh with the name Satyanarayana Dixit. After entering the film industry, he changed his name to his current one.
