Must read

BVK Iyengar Road, one of the commercial hubs of the city, is a state of affairs. The road that regularly trades in crores of rupees is a mess, causing traffic congestion to the market.

Iyengar Road has many shops selling electric products, clothes, saris, wedding invitations and accessories. A large number of small traders and consumers from outer districts and outstations come to market. They are now appealing to the local governing body and the people’s representatives to look at the current road situation.

BVK Iyengar Road extends from Mysore Road to Kempegowda Road. Rangaswamy Gudi Street, Killari Road, Old Taluk Office Road, Sultan Pate Main Road, Police Road and Poorna Venkatarao Road. Locals complain that the road has been in the works for several months on Kilari Road and is not visible.

“Compared to other roads in the city, Iyengar Road is more commercial. There are many traders who pay the highest goods and service tax (GST). But we don’t even have the basic amenities,” said wholesaler Sukhdev.

“Inland roads have been dug in the name of the Smart City and Tender Shure works, but the work has not been completed. This has disturbed people’s business and has hit business. ”

Electrician dealer Rajendra said, ‘Vehicles are on both sides of Iyengar Road. Traffic is slow as the road is short. “If someone is stuck in a vehicle, there will be congestion and the vehicle will be lined up.”

‘Here are the rows of multi-storeyed buildings. The inner drainage system is not adequate. Drinking water is a paradise. Public toilets do not benefit from lack of maintenance. Despite complaining about this, officials and people’s representatives are not responding.

Pedestrian overcrowding: ‘Millions of people come to BVK Iyengar Road every day. The number of pedestrians in it is high. Their movement is disturbed by the overflow of sidewalks,” said Ganapathi Rao, a clothing dealer.

‘Some people open a temporary shop wherever they can. People make room for space. If they are questioned, they will mess with us. There is also a plethora of auto drivers. Sickle Auto is stopping, causing traffic congestion. He also alleged that there were complaints made by the police against them.

‘Police limited as fines’

“People come to Iyengar Road just for money. Traffic cops who know this are louder. The traders have complained that the police are carrying a fine on their road, even though the people are stuck in a ruined road.

“The police are silent as the traffic lifts. No action is being taken against cross-border parking. ”

Sunday Market

“Every Sunday in the BVK Iyengar Road and the surrounding road, there is a large number of people coming to the Sunday Market. However, the Sunday Market has been bundled for months due to Covid, ” the traders said.

‘The shops are heading out on a Sunday morning. Bundle up after noon. In such a situation most people come to the market. He said the congestion was normal.
