Popular south Indian actress Rashmika Mandanna is officially branching out into biographical drama, taking on the role of legendary Carnatic vocalist and Bharat Ratna recipient M.S. Subbulakshmi. The ambitious movie project was launched during a high-profile ceremony held in Chennai.
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Gowtam Tinnanuri, the biographical film is titled M.S. – A Legacy On Screen. The grand launch event coincided with the 110th birth anniversary celebrations of the late music icon, drawing notable industry figures including actor Kamal Haasan, who attended as the chief guest to sound the first clap.
Despite the excitement surrounding the launch, the initial unveiling left many fans slightly disappointed. Eager moviegoers who hoped to catch their first glimpse of Rashmika transformed into the legendary singer left empty-handed, as studio producers decided to withhold the character look material for a later date. Industry trackers suggest the makers are saving the visual reveals for a dedicated promotional campaign as production gets fully underway.
Addressing the audience at the event, an emotional Rashmika expressed deep humility regarding the heavy responsibility of portraying such a revered cultural figure. Promising to deliver her absolute best, she thanked the team for trusting her with the monumental project.
