The All-India Students’ Association (AISA) on Wednesday extended support to the Cockroach Janta Party’s proposed September 5 protest march in Delhi. The student organisation said the demonstration would seek withdrawal of FIRs registered against students and an inquiry into allegations of pellet and bullet firing during earlier protests.
AISA national president Neha Bora said the concerns that had led to youth mobilisation remained unresolved. She claimed cases against students were still pending despite an earlier government commitment to withdraw them. Bora said the continued legal proceedings had increased frustration among students and young protesters seeking action on their demands.
The proposed march is expected to focus on the treatment of students during previous demonstrations and the need for accountability over the alleged use of pellets and bullets. AISA said an independent inquiry was necessary to establish what happened during the earlier protests and determine responsibility.
Bora told PTI that the government needed to address the concerns raised by students instead of allowing the cases to remain pending. She said the unresolved issues were continuing to affect young people and had become an important reason behind renewed mobilisation.
AISA’s support adds to the campaign ahead of the September 5 march in the national capital. The organisation reiterated its demand for the withdrawal of student-related FIRs and a proper investigation into the alleged firing incidents. The protest is expected to bring together young people and supporters seeking answers from authorities over the handling of earlier demonstrations.
