A busy section of Race Course Road in the heart of the city will be fully closed to regular vehicular traffic for the next 3 months due to major white-topping and infrastructure development work.
Transport authorities have erected heavy barricades across the affected stretch, shutting down the old Janata Dal Secular office route extending outward from the main Race Course Circle. To manage heavy daily transit demands, engineers have implemented a partial closure system where one side of the corridor remains accessible while the opposite lane undergoes deep construction and resurfacing.
Because this specific route serves as a major arterial link for daily commuters, traffic police have warned the public to expect severe congestion and significant travel delays. Motorists traveling toward critical junctions such as Chalukya Circle, Vidhana Soudha, Sivananda Circle, Seshadripuram, and Malleshwaram are strongly advised to seek alternative detour routes to avoid major gridlocks during peak morning and evening rush hours.
Local traffic management teams have been deployed around the construction zone to guide vehicles and ease movement. City planners emphasized that while the long-term infrastructure upgrade will ultimately improve road durability and prevent chronic potholes, commuters must exercise patience and plan their daily transit schedules accordingly throughout the extended three-month construction period.
