Three persons have been arrested in connection with the murder of businessman David D’Souza at Mudrangadi in Kaup taluk, police said. One accused was shot in the leg after allegedly firing at police during an escape attempt. The arrested were identified as Raju, 42, Ajay Rastogi alias Anmol, 23, and Jiyahul Wajool Sheikh alias Deepak, 38. D’Souza was allegedly shot in the head at the St Xavier Church complex on August 7 and later declared dead at a hospital. Police intercepted the accused near Byndoor after tracing their movements. A pistol and motorcycle allegedly used in the crime were seized. Police suspect a financial dispute and possible contract killing.
