CISF conducts joint counter terrorist mock exercise

New Delhi
Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on Sunday became the site of a large-scale Joint Counter Terrorist Mock Exercise, bringing together multiple security and emergency response agencies in a coordinated display of preparedness. The high-intensity drill was aimed at bolstering aviation security, sharpening tactical efficiency, and testing real-time crisis management systems.

The exercise was spearheaded by the CISF Quick Reaction Team (QRT), with active participation from the Delhi Police, National Security Guard (NSG), Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), Delhi Traffic Police, Fire Services, medical teams, and the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA). The simulation began with the initiation of a terror alert and escalated into a full-scale coordinated operation, demonstrating threat neutralisation strategies.

Following the drill, a detailed debriefing session was held to identify lessons learned and potential areas of improvement. The CISF, in an official statement on its X handle, noted: Such joint exercises are vital in testing real-time crisis response, strengthening inter-agency synergy, and reinforcing collective preparedness to counter emerging threats to aviation security.

Airport operations remained unaffected during the drill, with passengers being informed in advance to minimise inconvenience. Security experts emphasised that such inter-agency simulations are critical given the evolving nature of global terror threats and increasing risks to civil aviation hubs.

The CISF highlighted that the mock drill not only evaluated tactical skills but also assessed communication speed, decision-making, and deployment capabilities across agencies. Officials reiterated their commitment to ensuring the highest standards of aviation safety at India’s busiest airport, reassuring the public of robust security measures in place.

Earlier in June 2025, a similar joint mock drill was carried out by the ‘Garuda Force’ of the Karnataka State Police alongside the 4/8 Gorkha Rifles of the Indian Army at a high-security, undisclosed location in Bengaluru under the command of the ‘Trivandrum Brigade.
