The people who belong here are the proof that the cooperative sector is alive. Cooperation sector is strong in Mangalore side. Cooperation and Mysore District In-charge Minister ST Somasekhar said that besides providing employment opportunities to thousands of people, the cooperative sector has provided many benefits to crores of people.
He spoke while inaugurating the 69th All India Cooperation Week-2022 programme.
Every year from 14th to 20th of November for seven days cooperation week is celebrated. On November 14, the Chief Minister inaugurated the Cooperation Week in Kalaburagi. He said that the programme will be organized for seven days.
Co-operative sector is leading in all fields. We are all proud that Karnataka is the second leading state in India. He said that the work is being done in a good manner keeping the trust of the depositors. Among the urban cooperative banks in the state, most of the banks have A grade and are performing well. He explained that Credit Society, 21 DCC Bank is also benefiting, providing employment to thousands of people and loan facility to lakhs of farmers.
24 thousand crores to 33 lakh farmers including 3 lakh new farmers. The loan is being disbursed this year at zero interest rate. He said that the amount of loan disbursement is increasing year by year.
As per the demands of the cooperatives, Yashaswini scheme is being re-launched. Yashaswini is a popular scheme which was implemented by SM Krishna when he was the Chief Minister. Due to some reasons Yashaswini was merged with the Department of Health. During the tour of the state, there was a demand for the re-implementation of Yashawani Yojana everywhere. The Chief Minister has re-enacted this scheme and launched it on 14th. He said that this project will benefit all cooperatives.
There are 15 milk unions in the state and more than 25 lakh farmers are supplying milk. Nandini Ksheera Samriddhi Bank is being set up to provide financial benefits to milk supplying farmers. He said that a meeting with the RBI has been scheduled on November 25 regarding the establishment of the bank, and he is confident that it will get started.
Among the 21 DCC Banks, Mangalore DCC Bank is at the number one position. He said that in addition to paying tribute to the dignitaries of cooperation who have rendered immense service in the field of cooperation, the Co-operation Gem Award is being presented every year.
