BMTC To Go Digital Soon To Avoid Ticket Issues

Must read

Currently, the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation is facing severe difficulties. The corporation is struggling to pay the existing employees. In this background, the management board has prepared a new plan to lift BMTC from the spiral of loss.
According to the new plan, buses will have only drivers and no conductors. BMTC has decided to offer driverless services in the coming days. The corporation is facing financial burden along with shortage of drivers. The government is not agreeing to the new appointment either. Therefore, the corporation has planned to remove the conductor posts.
Digitalize ticket payment: At present, the effort to implement digital technology in BMTC has started. It has been decided to fully digitalize the ticket collection by implementing many digital facilities including Common Mobility Card, E-Pass. The officials of the corporation said that all the conductors in the corporation will be relieved of their work.
All current conductors are appointed as conductor company drivers. It has been decided to assign all these conductors to driving. Corporation officials have informed that additional buses are going to be put on the road without new recruitment.
In the current situation it is impossible to imagine a bus without a conductor, it will take time for most people to accept digital technology. BMTC has started implementing this scheme in order to avoid the burden. Current estimates are that 100 percent conductorless buses should hit the roads in the next couple of years.
