CHITRADURGA
More than ten lakh people are expected to gather in Chitradurga for the felicitation ceremony of senior BJP leader and former Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa on May nine.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate the main programme scheduled from two to five pm after attending another official event in Kolkata earlier that day.
Organisers said the event marks fifty years of Yediyurappa’s public life and is expected to be one of the largest political gatherings in Karnataka.
Leaders said more than ten thousand buses and over fifty thousand cars are expected to bring supporters from different districts including Bidar.
Preparations include food water breakfast and drinking arrangements for lakhs of people.
According to organisers Yediyurappa’s political journey includes eight term MLA wins from Shikaripura between 1983 and 2018 and four times as Chief Minister.
He is credited with several welfare schemes and development programmes and leaders said his governance focused on farmers and rural regions.
Organisers also said two books titled Flower in the Lotus and Sadhana Shikhari will be released during the event by Amit Shah.
The ceremony will also honour farmers police and forest officials for their contribution in protecting sandalwood resources and maintaining law and order.
Speakers described Yediyurappa as a leader who dedicated his life to public service and development of Karnataka especially farmers and rural communities.
They said his efforts helped rename Hyderabad Karnataka as Kalyana Karnataka and supported cultural and infrastructure projects in the region.
At age eighty three Yediyurappa continues to remain active in public life inspiring party workers and supporters across the state.
Organisers said the programme reflects unity strength and dedication of party workers and is expected to be a historic political celebration in Karnataka.
Leaders from across Karnataka have appealed to party workers to attend peacefully and follow all arrangements made by the organisers for smooth conduct of the event. They said security and transport facilities have been strengthened to manage the large crowd expected from various districts of the state. Officials expressed confidence that the event will be peaceful successful and memorable for all participants and supporters.
