A cross-dresser in Bengaluru, living in a rented apartment in BTM layout area for three months, was stabbed to death by a drunk auto driver. Police discovered his decomposed body after neighbours complained of a foul stench coming from the apartment. The deceased was identified as 32-year-old Pradeep.
The accused, Rakshith Gowda, an auto driver, had come to the victim’s house in an inebriated state. Pradeep reportedly slapped Rakshith and a fight ensued.
According to the police, Pradeep was the first to stab Rakshith. Enraged, Rakshith snatched the knife and stabbed Pradeep in the abdomen and left arm repeatedly. Rakshith then locked the doors of the apartment from outside and fled the scene.
The incident came to light when neighbours complained of a foul smell coming from the apartment. The building’s caretaker, Suresh, informed the police, according to a report by The New Indian Express. Police discovered the incident on June 2 and suspect that the crime took place after May 30.
A police officer said, The caretaker told us that the victim was a woman. As the body had decomposed, the stab injuries were not visible. We thought the person may have died of a heart attack.
Upon examining the CCTV cameras, Madiwala Police discovered a man leaving Pradeep’s flat at midnight on May 30. “The post-mortem revealed the victim was a man and had been stabbed. Our investigation revealed the victim was a cross-dresser. The victim often invited men to his flat. Pradeep had met the accused when he had hired his auto, said the police officer. Madiwala Police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
