Dharwad is one among the districts having more student hostels in the state. All the hostels are provided with building and other infrastructure. The government has given priority for development of twin cities, said Mines, Geology, Women and Child Development and District in-charge Minister Halappa Achar.
He was speaking at the inaugural function of Post Matric Girls’ Hostel constructed by Social Welfare Department at a cost of Rs 3.75 crore, near Rail Garden of Rajeev Nagar.
“The twin cities are the major business places of North Karnataka. More Hostels are situated here. They are being provided own building and other adequate infrastructure. Both Central and State governments are giving importance for development of twin cities. I feel proud for inaugurating a full pledged hostel building. Students must make use of the facility and
create a bright future,” Achar said.
Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Mines and Coal Prahlad Joshi, former chief minister Jagadeesh Shettar, President of Karnataka Balavikas Academy Eranna Jadi, President of Hubli Dharwad City Development Authority Nagesh Kalburgu, DeputyCommissioner Nitesh K Patil, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Dr Suresh Itnal, Joint Director of Social Welfare Department Dr NR Purushotham, Assistant Director Nanda Hanabaratti and others participated.
