Mango ripened without using any chemical substances and in natural way is helpful for health, said Deputy Commissioner Dr Bagadhi Gautam.
He was speaking at inauguration of district Mango exhibition and sales fair-2022 organised by District administration, District Panchayat and Horticulture department at Kuppanna Park near Hardinge circle.
A three day mango fair has been arranged by the horticulture department. Mangoes of different varieties are available at one place at lower prices compared to elsewhere, he said.
Mango is grown at approximately in an area of 7884 acre and it is estimated at 30 to 35 tonnes of production. There are 26 shops in the fair. 16 different varieties of mangoes ripened naturally have been exhibited for sales in the fair. Provision is made for the growers can sell their produce directly to the consumers. The public must make use of the fair, he said.
Farmers from Mandya, Mysore, Ramanagara, Chikkaballapur, Kanakapura are allowed to sell mangoes at the fair. The mango fair will be held for 3 days from May 27 to May 29, he said.
Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Poornima, Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr Manjunathaswamy, Deputy Director of Horticulture Rudresh and other dignitaries participated.
