BENGALURU
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has instructed the Chief Secretary to the government to review the issue of making it mandatory for beneficiaries of the Grihalakshmi scheme to provide a life certificate and take immediate action.
State Guarantee Authority Vice Chairman and MLC Dinesh Gooligouda had submitted a request to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar in this regard. Responding to this, the Chief Minister has instructed the Chief Secretary to the government to look into the matter and take immediate action. Through this, the government is taking steps to ensure that the payment of Grihalakshmi money is only paid to those who are eligible.
The government has decided to take this step to check the information of deceased beneficiaries of the Grihalakshmi scheme from time to time and prevent the payment of financial assistance to deceased beneficiaries. It is necessary to prevent the amount paid under the Grihalakshmi scheme from being paid to deceased beneficiaries in some places. MLC Dinesh Gooli Gowda had requested that the government should take action so that the amount paid by the government is properly utilized and the government money is distributed to other eligible beneficiaries.
The state government’s ambitious five guarantee schemes have already been successfully implemented across the state. Among these schemes, under the Grihalakshmi scheme, Rs. 2,000 is being paid monthly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries from June 2023 as per the government’s order.
The beneficiary of the scheme is a woman who is mentioned as the head of the family in the Antyodaya, BPL and APL ration cards distributed by the Food and Civil Supplies Department. He said that financial assistance of about Rs 57,300 crore has been paid to 1,24,12,543 eligible beneficiaries under the Grihalakshmi scheme so far.
Dinesh Gooligowda had requested that, in the same way that retired government employees are made mandatory to submit their life certificates to the relevant banks every year to receive their pension amount, eligible beneficiaries under the Grihalakshmi Yojana should also be made mandatory to submit their life certificates to the relevant banks every year and other measures should be taken to check and take necessary action.
