Residents’ safety and hygiene took center stage as SUCI Communist Party office-bearers submitted a memorandum to the Vijayapura Municipal Corporation Commissioner, urging immediate measures against the growing menace of houseflies and stray dogs in the city.
Deputy Commissioner D. Thimmayya, while receiving the memorandum, informed that sterilization surgeries for stray dogs are already underway, with around 8,000 dogs operated on through an agency. He assured that tenders would be invited this month to complete surgeries for the remaining stray dogs.
The meeting also highlighted the recent surge of houseflies over the past 15 days, causing discomfort to students, children, and the general public. Thimmayya stated that health officials would be instructed to carry out fogging and medicinal spraying to control the problem. He also mentioned that measures would be taken to prevent stray cattle from roaming on city roads, ensuring public safety.
District Secretary B. Bhagavanareddy and other leaders including S.S. Banajager, Akram Masyalkar, Siddalinga Bagewadi, Shivabalamma Kondaguli, Abivulla Masyalkar, Lalita Bijjaragi, Shivaranjani, and Mallikarjun H.T. were present at the meeting.
The memorandum submission reflects growing civic awareness, and authorities have promised swift action to restore sanitation and safety across Vijayapura.
