BJP’s Dilip Kumar Jaiswal slams Rahul Gandhi

Blurb: He criticised Gandhi’s remarks on a Union minister, calling them arrogant and undignified.

Senior BJP leader and Bihar minister Dilip Kumar Jaiswal on Thursday strongly criticised Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi for his remarks against Union Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu, saying the language used reflected arrogance and a lack of political decorum.

Reacting to reports that Rahul Gandhi had referred to Bittu as a traitor friend, Jaiswal said such remarks were unbecoming of a leader holding a constitutional position. The language used by Rahul Gandhi reflects arrogance, and history has shown that arrogance in public life does not last long. God does not allow it to endure, Jaiswal said, adding that Gandhi’s conduct and manner of speaking showed a lack of dignity expected from the Leader of Opposition.

The BJP leader emphasised that political disagreements must be expressed with restraint and a sense of responsibility, especially when comments touch upon sensitive issues related to national unity, the armed forces, or communities known for their sacrifices for the country. He warned that reckless language could deepen divisions and undermine democratic norms.

Jaiswal also reacted to remarks made earlier by Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, who had criticised Rahul Gandhi over the issue. Supporting Puri’s stance, Jaiswal said the contribution of the Sikh community to India was beyond question and should never be dragged into partisan political debates.

The Sikh community has made immense sacrifices for this country and even for the world, Jaiswal said. From protecting the nation’s borders to upholding Sanatan traditions, their contribution is historic and inspirational. Any statement that questions their faith, loyalty, or commitment to the nation will never be accepted by the people of India.

He added that communities with a long legacy of service and sacrifice deserve respect across party lines and should not be targeted through provocative remarks for political mileage. According to Jaiswal, leaders occupying high constitutional positions carry a greater responsibility to maintain civility in public discourse.
