CM-DCM Delhi trip signals political change ahead: MLA

DAVANAGERE

Channagiri MLA Shivaganga Basavaraj said the joint Delhi trip of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar is a positive sign for Karnataka politics. The two leaders are traveling together today following a call from the party high command. “This is a good development, and I am confident it will bring positive outcomes,” he said.

The MLA highlighted that the recent electoral success of new MLAs is largely due to the hard work of Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar. He praised Siddaramaiah’s leadership, noting that the Chief Minister has served 7.5 years in office, breaking the long-standing record of former leader Devaraj Urs. Shivaganga expressed hopes that DK Shivakumar may also serve as Chief Minister for two years, saying public opinion favors this move.

“The call by the high command is a welcome development. DK Shivakumar’s efforts helped the party regain power, and it is only fair he gets an opportunity,” the MLA added. He emphasized that decisions about tenure and cabinet formation will be made by the party leadership, and everyone’s opinions are respected.

Shivaganga also confirmed that he personally invited both leaders to Delhi from Mysore, with Kharge supporting the plan after Sankranti. He said the trip may pave the way for a cabinet reshuffle, opening doors for new leaders and administrative changes.

The MLA clarified he has no personal ambition for a ministerial post. “I will work in any role assigned, whether grassroots duties or a ministerial position. I will serve wherever needed,” he said, underlining his commitment to public service and the party.
