Government employees urged to stay physically fit

Mandya District In-charge Minister and Agriculture Minister N. Chaluvarayaswamy emphasized the importance of physical fitness for government employees, saying it improves health and helps relieve mental stress. He made the remarks during the inauguration of the Mandya District Level State Government Employees Sports and Cultural Competitions 2025-26 at Sir M. Visvesvaraya District Stadium.

The event, organized by the District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, Youth Empowerment and Sports Department, and Karnataka State Government Employees Association (District Branch), was inaugurated with the traditional hoisting of the sports flag and lighting of the lamp. Minister Chaluvarayaswamy encouraged employees to actively participate in sports and cultural programs not only at the district level but also at state and national levels, highlighting that physical strength supports mental well-being.

Ravikumar, MLA from the Madhya Vidhan Sabha constituency, praised the initiative and said that participating in such events is more important than winning prizes. He noted that employees’ enthusiasm and involvement in competitions enhance team spirit, camaraderie, and overall morale.

District Government Employees Association President Nagesh K introduced the participants who had arrived from all seven taluks of Mandya district, representing various departments. The program also saw the presence of key officials including Deputy Commissioner Dr. Kumar, Zilla Panchayat CEO K.R. Nandini, District Superintendent of Police Shobharani V.J., Additional Deputy Commissioner B.C. Shivananda Murthy, State Senior Vice President Shambhu Gowda S., Indian Red Cross Society President Dr. Meera Shivalingaiah, State Small Industries Development Corporation Vice President Vijayalakshmi Raghunandan, and Mandya Urban Development Authority Chairman B.P. Prakash.

Minister Chaluvarayaswamy concluded by urging employees to take full advantage of such sports and cultural competitions, saying that active participation strengthens the body, sharpens the mind, and promotes overall productivity and well-being.
