The unanimous decision was taken at the Municipal General Assembly to allocate ₹ 10 lakh each to the city’s 35 wards under a special grant of ₹ 5 crore State Financing Fund (SFC) released by the state government for infrastructure and development of the district.
Speaking at a special general meeting chaired by Municipal Council President Shweta, MLA K Srinivas Gowda said, “No SFC grant should be earmarked for a ward.” Ward, who has a lot of chaos and infrastructure issues, said the grant was a priority.
The people of the city are ours. There is problem in any ward, but people are angry with the people. No politics in development. This time let us give more grants to the wards that were previously underpaid. He suggested that the grant of equity allocation for wards be used as a pipeline, pump motor installation and street lighting facility.
The members who voted in favor of this, there are 35 wards in the city and allocate Rs 10 lakh to each ward. He decided to set aside ₹ 50 lakh for street light installation and maintenance and ₹ 1 crore for water supply.
The Department of Public Works, which manages state highways within the city, must install street lighting on those roads. The SFC grant tender should not be awarded to a large contractor. Member BM Mubarak suggested that instead of a small package of tender, the small contractors should be given the option.
The Rs 40 crore grant from the city park should be earmarked for the building of a municipality. He appealed to Srinivas Gowda to speak with the district caretaker minister in this regard.
