Deputy Commissioner Dr. K Vidya Kumari IAS has alerted the public about fraudulent social media accounts misusing her name and photo to solicit money. She stated that scammers are creating fake profiles on platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp, sending friend requests, and later messaging individuals with monetary requests.

The Deputy Commissioner has already lodged a complaint with the Cyber, Economic, and Narcotics (CEN) police and has advised people not to respond to such messages or transfer money. Instead, citizens should report suspicious accounts or messages to local authorities immediately.

Dr. Vidya Kumari emphasized vigilance, urging the public to verify all requests and avoid engaging with such fake profiles. The incidents have raised concerns about increasing cyber frauds targeting innocent users through impersonation. The Deputy Commissioner’s statement aims to create awareness and prevent individuals from falling victim to such scams. Authorities are investigating the matter to trace the perpetrators and curb such fraudulent activities.
