China’s meteorological authorities have renewed blue alerts for cold waves and strong winds, forecasting significant temperature drops and powerful winds across the country over the next few days. From Saturday through Thursday, temperatures in most regions are expected to fall by 6 to 10 degrees Celsius. Areas in northwestern, northern, and northeastern China could experience a sharper drop, with temperatures plunging by 12 to 16 degrees Celsius.
In addition to the cold wave, the National Meteorological Centre has issued a blue alert for strong winds. From 8 a.m Saturday to 8 a.m.today, powerful winds are predicted to impact several regions, including Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, Tibet, as well as the provinces of Qinghai, Gansu, and Ningxia. The Taiwan Strait, the area off the east of Taiwan, and parts of the South China Sea will also face strong winds.
China uses a four-tier, color-coded warning system, with blue indicating less severe weather conditions, followed by yellow, orange, and red for more extreme weather events. The public has been advised to take precautions against the upcoming cold and wind, especially in the affected regions.
