Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh announced on Sunday that the government’s initiatives in the science and technology sectors are aimed at realizing the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat,’ or Developed India, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In a media briefing, Singh outlined the government’s ‘science push,’ which includes a new Rs 1,000 crore venture capital fund designed to support space startups and the introduction of the Bio E3 policy aimed at creating a bioeconomy.

‘The Modi government’s initiatives in the first 100 days of its third term demonstrate its commitment to enhancing India’s position in global innovation,’ Singh stated. He emphasized that these efforts are not only aimed at strengthening India’s scientific capabilities but also at fostering a sustainable, self-reliant economy capable of adapting to global industrial changes.

Singh highlighted that the venture capital fund is part of a broader strategy to harness India’s burgeoning space sector, which now boasts nearly 300 startups. He noted that opening the space sector to private players has led to a significant transformation, evolving from just one startup to hundreds of space technology companies.

The Minister also pointed to India’s achievements in space exploration, such as the successful Chandrayaan-3 mission, as evidence of the country’s growing recognition on the global stage. He mentioned the upcoming Gaganyaan mission, set for 2026, as a landmark step in India’s journey toward human spaceflight.

With regard to the Bio E3 policy, Singh underscored a vision for a bio-driven future, asserting that the next industrial revolution will be rooted in bioeconomy initiatives.
