India’s merchandise exports saw a slight increase in September, rising to $34.58 billion compared to $34.41 billion in the same month last year, as per government data released on October 16.
Meanwhile, imports rose by 1.6% to $55.36 billion, up from $54.49 billion a year earlier. This resulted in a trade deficit of $20.78 billion for the month. In August, India’s exports had dropped by 9.3% year-on-year.
From April to September of this fiscal year, merchandise exports increased by 1% to $213.22 billion, while imports grew by 6.16% to $350.66 billion.
