A young woman was allegedly raped by an auto-rickshaw driver in Hyderabad early Tuesday morning. After returning from Chennai, the 29-year-old woman, who works as an interior designer, boarded the auto at Lingampally station around 2:15 a.m. to head to her residence in Nanakramguda. According to her complaint, the driver took her to an isolated area near a school in Masjid Banda and assaulted her.

She also stated that the driver attempted to strangle her when she screamed and stole her handbag containing cash and ID. The attacker fled when a passerby approached, and the woman immediately called the police. The autorickshaw reportedly had no number plate.

A case has been registered at Gachibowli Police Station, and the police have launched an investigation, scanning CCTV footage to identify the suspect. This is the second such case involving a working woman in Hyderabad in recent months.
