In response to the unauthorized posters and banners that have appeared across various locations such as Nandan Ground in Austin Town, Ulsoor, Ashok Nagar, and Shanthi Nagar, Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA) Chairman and MLA NA Harris’ birthday celebrations, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Chief Commissioner Tushar Girinath has directed authorities to file FIRs against those responsible.

The move follows growing concerns over the violation of city advertising rules. Addressing a meeting at the BBMP headquarters, Girinath stressed the importance of eliminating unauthorized advertisements across all eight zones of the city. He instructed officers to take immediate and strict actions to ensure such violations do not recur in the future. “All unauthorized advertisements must be removed, and FIRs should be filed against those who put them up. Steps should be taken to prevent such violations from happening again,” he emphasized. Additionally, Girinath raised concerns about properties evading property tax within the BBMP limits.

He called on officers to identify properties that are outside the tax scope and ensure they are included in the tax net. “It is crucial that we bring all properties within the jurisdiction into the tax system to ensure the city’s revenue is maximized,” Girinath stated, underlining the importance of accountability and transparency. The BBMP has also issued a warning to event organizers and political parties to ensure that any future advertisements are approved by the proper authorities before being displayed in public spaces.
