Harsh Kumar Jain appointed as India’s ambassador to Palau

On Monday, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced that Harsh Kumar Jain, who is currently serving as India’s ambassador to the Philippines, will also be the next ambassador to Palau. He is expected to begin this new role soon. Harsh Kumar Jain joined the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) in 1993.

In its statement, the MEA said, Shri Harsh Kumar Jain (IFS:1993), currently the Ambassador of India to the Republic of the Philippines, has been concurrently accredited as the Ambassador of India to the Republic of Palau, with residence in Manila.

Throughout his diplomatic career, Jain has held various positions both in New Delhi and abroad. He has previously served as India’s ambassador to Ukraine from 2022 to 2024, Slovakia from 2017 to 2018, and Kazakhstan from 2014 to 2017. Additionally, he has worked in Indian missions in Moscow, Kyiv, St. Petersburg, London, and Kathmandu. Jain also contributed to the UN Group of Governmental Experts on Information and Telecommunications in the context of International Security from 2012 to 2013. At MEA headquarters, he led several divisions, including BIMSTEC and SAARC, and served as the desk officer for Afghanistan from 2002 to 2004.
