New Delhi
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Union Minister of Labour and Employment Mansukh Mandaviya launched the revamped e-Migrate portal and mobile app. Jaishankar emphasized that this launch reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to ensuring safer, more transparent, and inclusive opportunities for Indian workers abroad. He highlighted the portal’s role in protecting citizens’ welfare and interests.
During the event, Jaishankar recalled that PM Modi had previously released a postal stamp promoting safe and legal migration, reinforcing the government’s focus on improving the living standards and governance for citizens. He described the e-Migrate portal as a beacon of hope, symbolizing their dedication to safeguarding workers’ rights and dignity overseas.
The new version of the portal features enhancements that address current global migration trends and the growing need for skilled workers in various fields. Jaishankar noted that India’s approach to migration has evolved significantly since 2015, as shown by the doubling of passport issuances over the past decade.
The upgraded portal includes a 24/7 multilingual helpline for urgent issues, ensuring that migrant workers receive timely assistance. The Ministry of External Affairs has integrated technology to improve the portal’s efficiency, and partnerships with local service centers will broaden access to immigration services across India. Jaishankar concluded by reaffirming the government’s commitment to creating safe and legal pathways for emigrants.
