On Monday, the government appointed S. Paramesh, the Additional Director General of the Indian Coast Guard, as the new chief of the maritime force. He will take over today. Currently, he is serving as the Director General following the passing of his predecessor, DG Rakesh Pal, last month.
With over 30 years of distinguished service, Paramesh has held various positions both on land and at sea. He graduated from the National Defence College in New Delhi and the Defence Services Staff College in Wellington. Specialized in Navigation and Direction, he has commanded major vessels, including the Advanced Offshore Patrol Vessel Samar and Offshore Patrol Vessel Vishwast. He has also held key roles in operations and coastal security and received several awards for his distinguished service, including the President’s Tatrakshak Medal.
